On the eve of the Celebration of the Path, the news media published a story claiming that the plan to put a guided bus track on the Railway Path had been "scrapped".
But the source of the story, a webcast from Bristol's Executive Member for Transport (click here for a transcript) said no such thing, merely confirming that progress on the Railway path section of the planned bus track is being delayed.
We are told that they will now give priority to developing the other half of the same route, from Ashton Vale to Temple Meads. Once people see the bus track up and running they will love it and be convinced, or so the council would like to think.
Mark Bradshaw confirmed this at the 1 April meeting, saying:
"No decision has been taken to share the cycle path with Rapid
Transit. No awards have been made. Full and fair consultation will
take place on all the options. BCC have no preferred option other than
the goal to bring BRT to the city at the earliest opportunity."
